With many bankable artists turn into the villains they are now, one can only be hailed as the Ultimate Kontrabida.

In any story, he or she is the sidekick, the supporter who cheers for the Bida. Oftentimes, he or she is overlooked and taken for granted, but because of his or her contribution to tell and complete a story—he or she gives the lead a special support system and because of that—he or she deserves that recognition, too.

Stars are born, but not all are able to have that longevity in the industry. Seldom for those who shunned away from the limelight are given another chance to shine; there are a few or one who is able to reclaim his or her status as a celebrity. This is presented to the tandem that is most-loved by our dear LionhearTV Cubs. It is a pair that has captivated the hearts of many. Not only do they make their fans believe in love, but they also set a good example for their followers and to the younger generation as well. They are two individuals that people can look up to on-and-off cam.

Actor of the Year

The recognition is given to an outstanding male star. He stood out from the rest of nominees for the said category. He has shown versatility and impressive performance for his craft; set a standard. He effectively portrayed the role or the character assigned to him and has affected a great audience, as well.

Actress of the Year

This is to salute the exceptional performance of an actress. She broke all the norms. She is a woman of both substance and talent, her character has empowered the female populace. The award spotlights how the female artist has debunked the double standards of Filipino on women and has proven that women can take big roles, too.

Favorite Performer

The award is for the artist who nailed both singing and dancing as well. He or she is a true ‘performer’ all-through-and-through and has owned the stage; outdone the strong competition he or she had to face. The award signifies versatility.

Favorite TV host

The Favorite TV Host is the face of the any show that any audience get to enjoy watching whether on a weekday or on a weekend basis. Some might say that this is the easiest job in the industry, but one cannot make the viewers crave for more without the gab for words and the confidence to carry a show. With his or her charm and commendable skills, this host is truly a topnotch.

Favorite Radio DJ

He is the person and the favorite voice on the radio waves. Despite the fact that they can only be heard, but some radio stations have already managed to combine audio-visual altogether like broadcasting on TV or on the Net—his or her intended audience can now see how he or she does his or her job. But that voice does not remain a voice but it has a great responsibility to create an impact as well.

News Personality of the Year (Female and Male)

The chosen news personality female and male has done a great job in the field of journalism. He or she has weathered through all the issues thrown at him or her. Apart from that, he or she has showcased the passion and that brand of dedication and determination to deliver newsworthy and noteworthy stories to the public.

Digital Influencer of the Year

He or she mirrors the image of being the most sought-after online influencer as of today. With the rise of digital content creators, the competition immediately became tighter; but there’s only one who emerged and gained the trust of the Netizens. He or she plays a big role in advancing and being a responsible online user via social media platforms.

Breakthrough Artist of the Year

Not necessarily a newcomer, but he or she is an artist, a personality that rocked the entertainment scene with such a sterling performance and perhaps an achievement that impressed many. It is a matter of leaving a great impact for the Filipino audience to see what he or she can still offer, positively.

Aside from individual awards, this category recognizes the best group in the entertainment circuit has. There may be people who shine individually, but surely there is joy to watch a group that does such feat equally.

Me and My Town, the newest Magazine and Travel TV Show, is premiering this August 12, 2018, Sunday, at 9:30 AM on GMA News TV Channel 11. On its pilot episode, Me and My Town will feature the modern and historic city of Imus, Cavite. Me and My Town will also feature the thriving city’s modern plants and factories.

Me and My Town aims to promote the unique charm of cities and towns in the Philippines. Hosted by veteran broadcast journalist and long time friend Kathy San Gabriel, Me & My Town will feature tourist attractions, food, culture and the arts one town at a time.

On each episode, the show will invite a prominent personality who is a native of the place to bring the viewers around and introduce what makes the town different from other towns.

For the pilot episode, Congressman Alex “AA” Advincula, an Imuseno, will be co-hosting and will bring Kathy and the viewers to the historic site of “Battle of Imus” and to the newly constructed hospital and schools. Further, Congressman AA will share the city’s vision, projects and infrastructure programs.

Each thirty-minute episode is also packed with valuable travel tips.

I was invited to the launch yesterday, August 8, 2018, at the Xing Oriental Bistro in San Juan, Metro Manila. I joined other Travel Bloggers and members of the media.

The show’s executives promise that Me and My Town will not be the usual magazine and travel show. It aims to ignite the Filipino’s love for one’s town.

Karla Estrada was full of energy on and off camera as always. Photography was by Mr. Raymund Isaac no less. Some of his works are featured on his website.

Karla’s make-up was done by Emman Concepcion and hair by Christopher Rodil. Ton Lao was the stylist.

The shoot was a breeze. We started at about two in the afternoon. By six PM, Karla was already on her way to her next appointment.

Others present during the shoot were Anna Maliwat, the one who introduced me to Kuya Dho, Karla’s best friend (that is how I got this gig), Ara Nacional of Matchstick and, of course, Kuya Dho.

I was invited to  attend and cover Coke Studio’s benefit concert for the refugees of Marawi at the Mall Of Asia Concert Grounds on December 9, 2017.

And I must say that it was a blast! Everyone from Generations X, Y (Millenials) and Z united that night to bring music back to Marawi. Admission to the event was free and attendees were encouraged to bring PET bottles for recycling.

Aside from the overflowing and seemingly unlimited supply of Coca Cola products being given away for free to all attendees, there were also Coke Studio Modules that let you sing your favorite songs and give away free Coke merchandise such as personalized Coke Studio bottles and photo prints.

Concert-goers may also visit the Food and Bazaar Christmas Village or take pictures with friends and family against the Coke Studio Christmas Wall.

Prior to the main event, college bands played in Coke Studio’s Tune Bayan, a social hall where college bands can perform their original songs and mingle with other college groups from different schools.

So the end has come for the Seventh Season of my favorite HBO series Game Of Thrones. The final episode is aptly entitled The Dragon And The Wolf referring to Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow, respectively.

1. LOVE BOAT

One of the most anticipated scenes is the love scene of Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen on a boat off to the North. This scene is pivotal in sealing the deal between the two main protagonists, the Mother of Dragons and the King Of The North. I was smiling the whole time while watching this scene. I forgot that they are actually related and that my eyes were feasting on something abominable that is incest. And I must say that Jon knows his pick-up lines and Dany knows how to reciprocate.

2. LOVE TEAM OF THE SEASON

And they meet again. I just love the chemistry between these two: Brienne and The Hound. I wonder who Brienne ends up with? Is it going to be The Hound or Tormund? She also has a short scene with Jamie Lannister where she tries to convince Jamie to join them in the fight up north.

3. BLOOD WINS

This scene has once again proven that for the Starks blood will always be thicker than water. In the last episode, Littlefinger tried to put tension between the sisters Sansa and Arya to bring them into a fight for power and control of Winterfell while the King Of The North is away. But Ned Stark taught his girls well the value of sticking together no matter what.

Who would have thought that Littlefinger will not be able to weasle his way out this time? Yup, after 7 seasons, Littlefinger is no more.

4. THE NIGHTKING AS A DRAGON RIDER

I could be wrong but I can’t help but think that the Night King and Bran are one. Before this scene in which the Night King is revealed riding the undead Viserion, we see Bran under The Tree seemingly warging… as to who or what he is warging into I do not know.

5. THE WALL… OH, WELL…

The scene to top it all is the final scene in which Viserion melts down the mighty Wall that has stood strong for seven seasons. Wait… Is that fire or ice? It has to be hot though to melt the ice, right? And, what should the command be? Dracarys or something else? I guess we would never know until the next season which will air in 1.5 years or so. Yes… that is like two Christmases from now, Philippine time that is… just enough time to do a regular Game Of Thrones weekend marathon from Seasons 1 to 7. Lol.

It is past one o’clock in the morning and I just finished watching the movie King Arthur. It is National Heroes’ Day and I am taking the holiday off.

I thought of watching another movie but I do not think I can take another 1.5 hours of continuous exposure to radiation from a 55-inch LED screen. So, I am settling for an IPAD screen instead and decided to write a random blog. Let me just pretend that the blue radiation I am getting from this smaller screen would make things better. Duh.

So, how do I find the movie King Arthur? I guess this entry is not so random after all. The heck it is a movie review! Hahahaha

Well, let me just put it this way. I have always been fascinated by the story of King Arthur, Excalibur and Camelot. So, as a disclaimer, this sort of movie review is going to be biased. Lol.

As a child, I still remember goofing around with a sword and pretending I was Arthur and I had Merlin as a friend and his magic.
So here goes… I got so engrossed in the first 2 minutes of the movie that I had to press ‘pause’ to go downstairs to buy my favorite Granny Goose Tortillos (yung red) and a bottle of Fit ‘n Right (yung apple flavor). I could not go on without munching something.

Suffice to say that I liked the movie. I have always been a fan of epic slash saga movies anyway which explains my obsession to the HBO series ‘Game of Thrones’. I can not wait for the Season 7 Finale tomorrow. I have been trying to avoid getting on social media to avoid spoilers.

Oh and by the way, Aidan Gillen, the actor who plays ‘Littlefinger’ in GOT happens to be a protagonist in King Arthur. To be honest, I did not expect that Aidan could play a goody-goody because he has been so effective in playing that lying P.I.T.A. Littlefinger but he delivered.

Before I drift away to Westeros, back to Camelot. Lol. So, I also noticed that Charles Hunnam, the one who plays King Arthur, has a striking resemblance to Channing Tatum. I actually thought it was Channing at first. Take a look at their photos below. I put them side by side to prove my point.

The movie has the same plot as the classic. What can we expect? I mean, they can only change the storyline so much. I am pretty sure they wanted to keep it very close to what most people of my generation have grown to love. They had to use special effects, convincing production design and remove Merlin from it to cater to the younger generation and instead put a Mage to serve as a ‘love’ interest for the up and coming Born King. I wonder when in Arthur’s timeline will Guinevere and Lancelot come in? I guess there is going to be a part 2.

Will I recommend the movie to others? Yes. Will I watch the movie again? Maybe. I am working on a project and might refer to it on how they did some of the special effects in the final fight scene.

Finally, I am feeling the need to doze off. I guess this blogging before bedtime works and might just become a habit. What do you think about this review? Perhaps, I should go technical in my future reviews, huh? Let me know.
