I would like to share with you one of my greatest finds: Dr. Labella Intensive Whitening Waterfull Toner. Watch the full vlog on my youtube channel here.

I have been using this wonderful toner for about a month now. So far so good! Just clear and moisturized face. It has helped me get rid of the dark spots on my face. Thanks to its main ingredient Glutathione. Also, it has Hyaluronic Acid or Sodium Hyaluronate, probably one of the best moisturizing ingredients that I know. Each molecule holds up to 10 times its weight in water. This Korean-made toner comes in a premium looking 150 ml bottle.

It is in liquid form, translucent and smells good. After washing, I apply it on my face using a cotton ball, gently smoothing it from the center out. I do not use a moisturizer anymore after using the toner. I just put on a sunblock before going out and about.

I have always thought that salted duck egg or “itlog na maalat” in the vernacular was and has always been a Filipino delicacy. It is surprising to know that it actually originated from China. It is made by soaking duck eggs in damp and salted charcoal.

In the Philippines, salted duck eggs are dyed red to distinguish them from fresh ones. A popular method of curing the eggs is through the “Pateros style” whereby the fresh eggs are individually dipped in a cake batter made of clay from anthills and termite mounds, table salt and water. The eggs are then packed in boxes wrapped in newspapers and stored away at room temperature for two weeks. The cured eggs are then cleaned and boiled in low heat for thirty minutes.

I personally love eating “itlog na maalat” with fresh tomatoes, fried fish and super garlic fried rice. I am salivating as I write this. LOL.

Now, there is another way of eating salted eggs: CHIPIPZ Salted Egg Chips! Wow! I get to eat two of my favorites, i.e. potato chips and salted eggs, in one snack! CHIPIPZ has been doing the rounds on Facebook lately and I have been hearing from friends how they love it. I must admit that I am not getting any younger. The last time I checked, I saw white nose hairs already. Just recently, too, I started seeing more hair than usual trapped in the drain of my shower. I am starting to worry about hair loss. Panic attack. Is this middle age crisis?What is happening? Why am I losing hair?

What Leads to Hair Loss?

So, I started researching online. Apparently, hair loss is often hereditary. Poor nutrition may lead to hair thinning. Major illnesses, surgeries or traumatic events and hormonal changes may cause temporary hair loss, too.

Life changing events such as death in the family, extreme weight loss or a high fever may trigger hair loss. Certain hairstyles that put pressure on the hair follicles may result to hair loss, too. Read more about it here.

Among the many factors mentioned above, the culprit to my sudden hair loss could only be poor nutrition and weight loss. Hoping. Now that I have reached my desired weight, I guess I need to load up on protein-rich meals soon. I used to weigh 165 lbs. I lost 15 lbs already in 12 months. And, I am aiming to lose 5 to 10 lbs more in the next 12 months for health and vanity purposes.

To run a business, one has to have an effective and executable business plan.  A business plan is made up of all the elements of the marketing mix collectively known as The 4 Ps, namely, Product, Price, Place and Promotion, a concept created in the 1960s by E. Jerome McCarthy.

According to Philip Kotler, often referred to as “the Father of Modern Marketing”, Marketing Mix is the set of controllable variables that the firm can use to influence the buyer’s response.

Over the years, the marketing mix has had numerous versions, evolving to 5 Ps, 6Ps and 7Ps.

Consistently at the core of all these versions of the marketing mix is the target market.

To me, understanding the target market is what separates marketing from mere selling. Marketing is selling with a purpose, keeping one’s eyes on the target, being ahead of the game and bearing in mind the who’s and what’s, the where’s and when’s and the why’s and how’s of the target market. Marketing is not random. Marketing is purposive. It is deliberate.

Why Digital Marketing?

On March 29, 1994, the World Wide Web welcomed the Filipinos to the wonderful world of internet.  More and more Filipinos have been online ever since. The internet penetration in the Philippines is at 58% as of January 2017 versus the 50% global average despite having an average speed of 4.2 Mbps, which is way below the 6.3 Mbps global average. The growth of the internet penetration in the country is 27%, second worldwide to Indonesia’s 51%.

What does 58% penetration mean? This means that about 3 out 5 Filipinos have access to the internet. Based on the same report from We Are Social and Hootsuite, Filipinos spend an average of 5 hours and 23 minutes, the highest in the world, in accessing the internet through a laptop/desktop and about 3 hours and 35 minutes, still among the highest in world, using a mobile device.

Further, Filipinos spend 4 hours and 17 minutes on Social Media, again the highest in the world. 42% of Filipinos are active daily on Facebook, making the country the world’s No. 6 in terms of active Facebook user bases.

According to the International Institute of Digital Marketing, these are the pillars of Digital Marketing: Website, Social Media, Digital Media Strategies, Email Marketing, E-CRM (Customer Relationship Management), Analytics, E-commerce and Mobile Marketing. These are what one who runs a business can access and apply in reaching and understanding the target market and in maximizing the consumer journey.

New Consumer Journey

Prior to the dawn of the internet, the touch points in reaching the target market were limited to traditional mass media e.g. TV, Radio, and Print. Point of purchase was also just mostly limited to the usual brick and mortar store. Then, the consumer journey was linear whereby it was assumed that a consumer needed to be aware first about a product or service via mass media. Promotions would have to be frequent and sustained (and expensive) to make the consumer familiar about the product or service to make him or her consider buying. The consumer would then go to a physical store to make the actual purchase. Once satisfied, only then would he or she be a brand advocate. Period.

Now, the consumer journey is interactive, circular and 24/7 whereby a consumer may become aware of, be familiar with, want to consider, want to buy and be loyal to a product or service at any and every touch point in the consumer journey. Thus, a marketer may need to be available, active and interactive in every touch point as well.

Interactive
A consumer needs to be able to identify with the brand to reach a successful purchase. Hence, a marketer needs to engage the target market by being present, active and interactive where the target market is before and after purchase. By interacting with the consumer, the marketer may also gain valuable insights which he or she may use to come up with insight-driven strategies to drive better sales performance.

Circular
A consumer may be an advocate now and then switch later to a competing brand once exposed to triggers post- purchase or after careful assessment of the product or service availed of.

A consumer may do online research in assessing or ask friends and family about their own experiences before making a conclusion about what he or she thinks and feels about the product.

Moreover, after being exposed to triggers, a consumer may also do online research and personal interviews of family and friends before considering an actual purchase. Nielsen’s fourth-quarter 2015 Mobile Wallet Report revealed that 72% of shoppers research items on their smartphones before buying. That is why it is vital for a brand to be present in most, if not all, of the touch points to guide the consumer.

24/7
With the growing number of people gaining access to online information coupled by the deluge of products and services cluttering the digital space, all the more a product needs virtual presence 24/7. Nowadays, consumers may become aware of, become interested in, be familiar with, purchase or become loyal to a product or service just by surfing the net. Hence, a business owner needs to bring digital into the marketing mix.

They say, to be successful is to be in the right place at the right time. I say, nowadays, to be successful is to market the right product using the right message to the right target market at the right price in every right place always at the right time more often. So the end has come for the Seventh Season of my favorite HBO series Game Of Thrones. The final episode is aptly entitled The Dragon And The Wolf referring to Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow, respectively.

1. LOVE BOAT

One of the most anticipated scenes is the love scene of Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen on a boat off to the North. This scene is pivotal in sealing the deal between the two main protagonists, the Mother of Dragons and the King Of The North. I was smiling the whole time while watching this scene. I forgot that they are actually related and that my eyes were feasting on something abominable that is incest. And I must say that Jon knows his pick-up lines and Dany knows how to reciprocate.

2. LOVE TEAM OF THE SEASON

And they meet again. I just love the chemistry between these two: Brienne and The Hound. I wonder who Brienne ends up with? Is it going to be The Hound or Tormund? She also has a short scene with Jamie Lannister where she tries to convince Jamie to join them in the fight up north.

3. BLOOD WINS

This scene has once again proven that for the Starks blood will always be thicker than water. In the last episode, Littlefinger tried to put tension between the sisters Sansa and Arya to bring them into a fight for power and control of Winterfell while the King Of The North is away. But Ned Stark taught his girls well the value of sticking together no matter what.

Who would have thought that Littlefinger will not be able to weasle his way out this time? Yup, after 7 seasons, Littlefinger is no more.

4. THE NIGHTKING AS A DRAGON RIDER

I could be wrong but I can’t help but think that the Night King and Bran are one. Before this scene in which the Night King is revealed riding the undead Viserion, we see Bran under The Tree seemingly warging… as to who or what he is warging into I do not know.

5. THE WALL… OH, WELL…

The scene to top it all is the final scene in which Viserion melts down the mighty Wall that has stood strong for seven seasons. Wait… Is that fire or ice? It has to be hot though to melt the ice, right? And, what should the command be? Dracarys or something else? I guess we would never know until the next season which will air in 1.5 years or so. Yes… that is like two Christmases from now, Philippine time that is… just enough time to do a regular Game Of Thrones weekend marathon from Seasons 1 to 7. Lol.

It is past one o’clock in the morning and I just finished watching the movie King Arthur. It is National Heroes’ Day and I am taking the holiday off.

I thought of watching another movie but I do not think I can take another 1.5 hours of continuous exposure to radiation from a 55-inch LED screen. So, I am settling for an IPAD screen instead and decided to write a random blog. Let me just pretend that the blue radiation I am getting from this smaller screen would make things better. Duh.

So, how do I find the movie King Arthur? I guess this entry is not so random after all. The heck it is a movie review! Hahahaha

Well, let me just put it this way. I have always been fascinated by the story of King Arthur, Excalibur and Camelot. So, as a disclaimer, this sort of movie review is going to be biased. Lol.

As a child, I still remember goofing around with a sword and pretending I was Arthur and I had Merlin as a friend and his magic.
So here goes… I got so engrossed in the first 2 minutes of the movie that I had to press ‘pause’ to go downstairs to buy my favorite Granny Goose Tortillos (yung red) and a bottle of Fit ‘n Right (yung apple flavor). I could not go on without munching something.

Suffice to say that I liked the movie. I have always been a fan of epic slash saga movies anyway which explains my obsession to the HBO series ‘Game of Thrones’. I can not wait for the Season 7 Finale tomorrow. I have been trying to avoid getting on social media to avoid spoilers.

Oh and by the way, Aidan Gillen, the actor who plays ‘Littlefinger’ in GOT happens to be a protagonist in King Arthur. To be honest, I did not expect that Aidan could play a goody-goody because he has been so effective in playing that lying P.I.T.A. Littlefinger but he delivered.

Before I drift away to Westeros, back to Camelot. Lol. So, I also noticed that Charles Hunnam, the one who plays King Arthur, has a striking resemblance to Channing Tatum. I actually thought it was Channing at first. Take a look at their photos below. I put them side by side to prove my point.

The movie has the same plot as the classic. What can we expect? I mean, they can only change the storyline so much. I am pretty sure they wanted to keep it very close to what most people of my generation have grown to love. They had to use special effects, convincing production design and remove Merlin from it to cater to the younger generation and instead put a Mage to serve as a ‘love’ interest for the up and coming Born King. I wonder when in Arthur’s timeline will Guinevere and Lancelot come in? I guess there is going to be a part 2.

Will I recommend the movie to others? Yes. Will I watch the movie again? Maybe. I am working on a project and might refer to it on how they did some of the special effects in the final fight scene.

Finally, I am feeling the need to doze off. I guess this blogging before bedtime works and might just become a habit. What do you think about this review? Perhaps, I should go technical in my future reviews, huh? Let me know.

Last year, I got Mom a bouquet of flowers for Mother’s Day. Thanks to my cousin, Ate Lala, a mother herself, for going through all the trouble of buying the flowers and hand carrying it to my Mom on my behalf.

Thanks, Mom, for being the mother that you are to me and my siblings. You single-handedly raised us.  I could not even begin to imagine how much trouble you had to go through to keep us alive and well. Thank you for all the love, discipline and sacrifices you wholeheartedly did for us. I know that I will not be able to thank you enough.

In 2015, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) with the other government agencies and non-government organizations released an Earthquake Contingency Plan for the Philippines.

Therein, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) warned that in case of an earthquake in Metro Manila, the West Valley Fault spanning 100 kilometers which passes through Bulacan, Quezon City, Marikina, Pasig, Makati, Taguig, Muntinlupa, Rizal, Cavite and Laguna, may cause a 7.2 magnitude quake or higher.

Should “The Big One” happen, it is estimated that over 30,000 individuals may die and over 100,000 may be injured. The strong ground shaking may also result to the regional separation of Metro Manila to quadrants due to the collapse of buildings and bridges.

To carry out evacuation and rescue operations efficiently, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) divided Metro Manila into four quadrants. Each quadrant is designated an operation center and staging area which will also serve as evacuation camps.

Further, all athletic fields, sport arenas, memorial parks, churches and gyms that will be designated by the local government units (LGUs) will be used as evacuation centers for Metro Manila and nearby provinces. Pasig River will serve as an alternate route for rescue and relief personnel.
