Non-members may enjoy this luxurious resort, too. The first time I visited was years ago. I attended a sales conference. I, however, was not able to enjoy its wonderful amenities.

Club Punta Fuego Reopens

As of November 30, Club Punta Fuego is open for staycation daily.

On the other hand, Terrazas de Punta Fuego’s Beach Club is open from Fridays to Sundays. It is exclusively for members, their dependents and guests.

Under Administrative Order No. 2020-006-C, the following are allowed in Club Punta Fuego:

• Guests of all ages
• Guests coming from CALABARZON and NCR who are traveling point to point between the two regions

Persons with comorbidities and pregnant women are disallowed.

Accommodation

Club Punta Fuego has 15 rooms and 33 casitas with the following amenities:

• Terrace or veranda facing the West Philippine Sea
• Non-smoking rooms
• Plush bed
• Airconditioning
• Cable television
• Coffee / Tea Making Facilities

Travel requirements as Club Punta Fuego in Nasugbu Batangas reopens

To curb COVID-19, safety protocols are in place. Hence, all guests must have the following upon arrival:

• Booking Confirmation Letter
• Negative Rapid Antigen Test Results for each guest. Results must be dated on the day of arrival. Click here where to get tested. Or, you may proceed to Immanuel Diagnostic Center in Nasugbu. Call 0927 957 4697 or 043 416 0483. Present your booking confirmation.

Starting December 4, there will be a rapid antigen test on site.

Get ready for adventure as Aquaria Water Park in Calatagan reopens. On November 14, 2020, this breathtaking water park resumed operations after being closed since lockdown. Aquaria Water Park is a tropical paradise, perfect for kids and kids-at-heart, in Playa Calatagan Residences.

Under the Administrative Order No 2020-006-C, guests from CALABARZON and the National Capital Region (NCR) are allowed to visit this water park provided that they follow “point to point” travel between the two regions. All ages are allowed except those with co-morbidities and pregnant women.

Water Park Pools

My friends and I visited this water park in 2018. We had fun both in the pool and on the beach. Aquaria Water Park has a pool with a giant 3-story high pool slide. Pools are open from 8 AM to 6 PM.

White Beach

Aquaria Water Park has a 525-meter white sand beach with clear waters. We also visited a nearby sandbar by boat and went snorkeling.

To adhere to safety protocols and curb COVID-19, water sports are not yet available at this time unfortunately.

Accommodation

I stayed overnight in one of the rustic cabins of Crusoe Cabins – Aquaria Water Park.

Crusoe Cabins has 13 fully furnished air-conditioned rooms. Each room has:

• Bedroom
• Living room
• Bathroom
• Kitchenette
• Porch terrace
• Mini bar
• Flat screen TV

To abide by the minimum health standards, a maximum of three persons are allowed in each cabin.

No in-room services allowed. Turn down service is suspended, too. Make up room service is available upon request.

Check-in time is 3 PM and check-out is strictly at 12 noon.

Day Tour

Cabanas are also available for open-air and day use. Capacity of each Cabana is reduced to 50%. Hence:

• Two hard copies of any of the following:
  1. Medical Health Certificate for each individual issued by a government physician stating that at the time of request you are not showing any symptoms and not on the list of probable suspect and confirmed COVID-19 case
  2. Negative RT-PCR or Negative Rapid Antigen Test results dated from the time of release at least a day before your arrival/check-in
• Valid government-issued IDs
• Face mask and shield
• Alcohol or sanitizer

Last month, I got to spend a day with blogger friends in Porto Laiya, another prestige project from the developer of Mount Malaraya Golf & Country Club– considered as one of the top golf courses in the world. Porto Laiya is a private residential and beach resort community in Brgy. Ibabao, Laiya, San Juan, Batangas.

The pick-up time was six am on a weekday in McDonald’s EDSA-Buendia branch in Makati City. I live in Cubao and for me to make it on time, I needed to be on the road by 5 AM to avoid the rush hour traffic to the Central Business District of Metro Manila. I have not had any proper sleep after long hours of editing a number of video projects and was feeling under the weather.

At 5 AM, I was still in bed and messaged my blogger friend Erica Poyauan of www.thegirlwiththemujihat.com if she was already on her way. She said she was having second thoughts because she, too, was feeling sick. We checked online again to find out more about Porto Laiya. In no time, I was in the shower preparing for another day of swimming, snorkeling and basking in the sun! Erica and I agreed that we should just go and enjoy! By six in the morning, I was already drinking coffee and had just finished my Sausage McMuffin in McDonald’s EDSA-Buendia branch while Erica… well… was nowhere in sight. She was still on her way, stuck in a horrendous traffic somewhere. She made it in the nick of time nonetheless.

By 7:30-ish in the morning, I was already inside the Active Group‘s van plying EDSA with the other bloggers and real estate agents. I rode shotgun with my backpack of equipment and drone. Hence, I pretty much was quiet and slept through the whole three-hour or so road trip.

It was a smooth and easy ride to Batangas. As we rolled towards Porto Laiya, I could not help my excitement to build up because of the Porto Laiya road signs that darted the road side starting from the STAR Tollway Ibaan Exit up to Porto Laiya’s Main Gate.

It was close to mid-day but we braved the sun to take photos. We were simply captivated by the beauty of this seaside community.

And then it was time to go out into the sea for snorkeling. Off the beach of Porto Laiya is a coral sanctuary. How convenient is that for Porto Laiya residents?

In no time, everyone got on the bamboo raft except me. I needed to fly my drone and take some aerial footage for my vlog. By the time I was done, my friends were already at sea. The daredevil in me said, “I cannot not be on that raft and miss seeing the corals of Laiya!” So I gathered all my strength, grabbed my action camera, put on my goggles, and swam towards the boat. Halfway, I looked into the horizon and saw the still small image of the boat and my friends. With the strong current, I thought I would not be able to make it. The boat was just too far. I looked back at the beach and did some mental calculations. If I go back, I would still swim the same distance, be dead tired and would spend the whole afternoon regretting not being able to see the Laiya reefs teaming with marine life. Darn, I would rather be tired and happy than be tired and sad. So for dear life, I paddled and swam. From a distance, I could already hear my friends cheering me on. It felt like I was in a swimming competition. LOL. “Oh goodness, my mom would kill me”, I thought. Thanks to my fellow blogger, Bette Medina for recording the whole thing on video.

Upon reaching the boat, my friends were ecstatic. Erica was so nervous and even thought that I could not make it. I, myself, could not believe that I made it. LOL. Surprisingly, I did not feel exhausted at all after that dash of a swim. Thanks to the adrenaline rush. We wasted no time and spent the rest of the afternoon at sea communing with nature.

After snorkeling, we went for a quick dip in the Infinity Pool of the Tamarind Cove for some more Instagram shots.

I am glad I pushed through with visiting Porto Laiya. Aside from getting to see this wonder of a place and getting to enjoy its amenities, I was able to meet new blogger friends and reunite with old ones.

Pick-up time was six-thirty in the morning of November 28, Tuesday, in Shakeys Magallanes.  It was a weekday so it was best to leave Cubao early to avoid the rush hour. I left the house at 5:30 AM and was already at the pick-up point by about 6 AM. I saw fellow blogger Lariza Garcia waiting at Starbucks instead. So I went to join her.

I brought with me my travel buddies: Canon DSLR and DJI Phantom, to properly document this adventure.

The van arrived by 7 AM or so. They got caught up in traffic coming from the first pick-up point in Malate. It was an almost three-hour van ride from Magallanes to Acuatico Beach Resort. Everyone was asleep except me during the ride.

Acuatico Beach Resort, a premiere resort south of Manila, is lighting up stars to share the hope for a bright future to deserving students of the Laiya National High School K-12 Plus Curriculum, San Juan, Batangas. Hotel guests may purchase stars to decorate the Christmas Tree in the Oceano Restaurant for only P50 (small), P100 (medium) or P200 (large). Proceeds of which will be used to provide the necessary materials and resources to support the the K-12 Plus Program.

During the launch dinner of the Light Up A Star Charity Program last November 28, 2017, Ms. Simonette Gusi, owner of  Acuatico Beach Resort, shared that the main objective of this program is to ensure the youth’s future job placement in the resort. Last year, Acuatico Beach Resort was able to provide workbooks for the Food and Beverage Service and linens for the Housekeeping Service curricula. There are plans to expand the program to include a Kitchen/Culinary curriculum.

According to Ms. Tess Samaniego, MarCom Manager, the Light Up A Star Charity Program is already on its third year. Currently, there are nine Grade-12 students and six Grade-11 Students who are undergoing training in the hotel.

Mr. Marcel Haessner of the German Development Program, who just flew in from Germany with his family, said that he is amazed at the Filipino hospitality, a trait that is sought after in the Hospitality Industry. Through this K-12 Plus Program, students in training would  have the opportunity to further develop skills that will be value-adding when they finally join the workforce. He was happy to see how the already deployed students in the resort have developed over time. They have become more confident and personable. He admitted though that there are challenges especially so that year on year the number of students is growing.  Currently, there are almost 300 students enrolled in the program.

Ms. Josephine Rosales, Principal of the Laiya National Highschool, said that all 256 students who underwent the assessment last school year for the Housekeeping Curriculum passed. For this school year 2017-2018, there are 120 Grade-11 students and 160 Grade 12 students who will undergo the assessment for Food and Beverage Curriculum. She is hopeful that all 280 students will pass and be placed across the 60 participating resorts in Laiya, San Juan, Batangas.

Further,the Light Up A Star Program was instrumental in training teachers during the launch in 2013. Twenty of whom were supported by Acuatico Beach Resort. Aside from the Laiya National High School, three other Senior High Schools are included in the program: Palahanan National High School, Buhaynasapa National High School and San Juan Senior High School.
